6K a year 4 days ago 4 days ago 4 days ago JOB SUMMARY Our facility located in Yemassee, SC is in need of someone who has vast construction knowledge and skills when it comes to the construction of homes and other basic commercial structures.
We are looking for a competent Head of Construction to coordinate operations and oversee workers at construction sites.
The Head of Construction must possess a Commercial General Contractor License for the State of SC.
As the point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for the completion of projects.
A Head of Construction has a solid background in the field.
Your leadership skills and your extensive experience have earned you the ability to direct the work of others and make quick decisions.
You must be well-organized and favor safety above everything else.
The Head of Construction completes construction projects by planning, organizing, and controlling projects; completing quality and safety inspections; and supervises sub-contractors and employees.
The position plans, directs, coordinates, and participates in activities pertaining to the construction, renovation, and maintenance of Company property in accordance with company policies, documents, and regulations.
REQUIREMENTS Commercial General Contractor License for the State of SC High School Diploma or equivalent or higher 5 years of related experience including supervisory or lead experience KNOWLEDGE/DUTIES The ability to read and interpret blueprints is a plus, but not required.
Schedules the project in logical steps and budgets time required to meet deadlines.
Determines labor and material requirements and dispatches workers to project/job site.
Inspects and reviews project/job site to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other regulations.
Interprets and explains plans and contract terms to employees and clients.
Supervises the Construction personnel and acts as a liaison between project/job site and Project Manager.
Manages sub-contractors by locating, evaluating, and selecting sub-contractors, monitors and controls performance.
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews.
Resolves problems.
Manages multiple projects simultaneously.
Trains, assigns, schedules, coaches, counsels, and provides orientation to employees.
Communicates job expectations to employees.
Plans, monitors, and appraises job contributions by employees.
Adheres to company policies and procedures and ensures compliance by staff.
Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes.
Ensures employees have the tools, equipment and materials needed to perform the job.
INTERPERSONAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to provide a leadership role and serve as a point of contact while on the project/job site.
Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved that facilitates harmonious working relationships during project, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES Proficient in using the Internet to research information, as well as MS Outlook; MS Excel and MS Word Good verbal, written skills Ability to work on a team, as well as unsupervised Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal building codes Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools and proficiency in skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks Managerial experience in construction and maintenance Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and employees at all levels of the organization Possesses a thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS South Carolina Driver's License or equivalent Commercial General Contractor License for the State of SC LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to read and write, and interpret documents including task descriptions, standard operating procedures, and other instructions.
REASONING ABILITY Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
